Our 2009 President, Scott Armstrong, opened the meeting by welcoming our guests: Dan and his family (Hope Springs Hauler) joined us (also became a paid member, so not really a guest now). Also Brett, who has a kicking Sidekick and was with us on New Year’s day, joined us.
Treasurer’s Report: We have money
Member Dues:
Once again for returning members annual dues will be $30, if paid by March meeting. Returning to the normal $50, at the April meeting. New this year: For any new members that join after 10/1, we will prorate dues to $25. The following year (Jan), they would then qualify for the $30 returning member rate.
Trail Runs & Events:
2009 Official Trail Run schedule defined - provided in separate publication and added to calendar. (Added Zookimelt to our official runs this year, due to volume of participation last year versus our monthly event.)
Couple places still looking into:
D&K as a destination ??
Redbird – Still interested but would like a better understanding of available terrain, if someone could post up.
New Events for 2009:
Possible Show n Shine at a Jeep dealer in Eaton. Bob Heath has been in contact with, during April. Waiting for final approval and date.
A CORE summer party in between the benefit in Aug and the WVA trip at the end of September. Potential would be Sharon Woods or Houston Woods? Perhaps someplace to provide kids with things to do, as well as adults.
-- These two additions plus the benefit offers additional opportunities to get with friends outside of trail runs, and to involve family members that don’t normally attend runs.
Trail Run Planning:
It's been suggested that trail leaders be assigned at each run to ensure no one gets left behind on the trail.
A suggested equipment list will be defined and published to web, for those that are attending trail runs. (Note: We had a list but has been ‘lost’ over time.)
Trail Run Follow Up:
Stuck Stickers & Pink Hook – Get better on ensuring stuck stickers are purchased after official trail runs and get a pink hook to award, as well. Ideas being tossed around about the pink hook. Idea is to have something that can be easily attached/removed from a vehicle when time to “give it up” for the next person versus an actual hook.
Annual T shirt design:
We will be moving to a single recognizable design versus having a contest each year for a new one. Color of the Tshirt will vary by year to differentiate and design will be a single color.
-- Design at this time is TBD (open to ideas). Should be basic and something we want to be identified as/with. (Like image on header of website, as idea.) Open to ideas, post any up. Follow up at Feb meeting.
Land Use / Charity Events:
-Lisa to investigate cost/commitment in regards to Adopt-A-Highway program
-Plan to join the Miami River Clean Up this year
-Tread Lightly? Lisa to investigate – report due at Feb meeting
-Blue Ribbon Coalition
-Ideas from others? Post up
