  • detroit tru trac problem

    on my buddies jeep his detroit tru trac does not always lock what would cause this

    its a limited slip, not a locker. worm gears might be crudded up too.

        Nothing wrong with it that I can tell from the question.......as mentioned it's a limited slip so it won't always keep both tires spinning while off-roading. Lightly riding or pumping the brakes helps, but be careful as you also are putting more stress on the axles when doing this.

        FYI - I ran a TruTrac for several years in my Blazer. It's the best limited slip I've ever ran, but the key word is "limited".

        Also, this type of diff doesn't wear out like clutch type limited slips so age and wear should have no affect on how it works.

          I liked the one that I put in the 1/2 ton GMC DD...
          but didn't like the reason that I had to make a modification...
