Oh, it's fine for now. We'll see what happens when I actually put in in 4wd.

            Tony's old half-worn 37s. Only actually measure a little over 35 inches...

Yeah, I know! My "other" club was all impressed cause they look cool. I knew this crowd would be more concerned with how they'll work...

I justified it to myself like this: I beat the living tar out of my rig on 35s, full throttle, tires in the air kind of crap. The only axle breakage I've seen were old crusty ujoints that should have been replaced anyway. I've never broken an otherwise good shaft.

So, my thinking goes, if I can try to wheel it a little gentler on these (that are really only 35" anyway) it shouldn't be too much worse on it than the beatings it has survived.

            I mean, right? Ha!

(And yes, I'll still be carrying shafts and stubs, and I'm certainly not getting rid of my 35s yet, in case I have to retreat!)

TJ flares were ordered last night. They open up a TON of room. I don't know if I'll get them on before Rush, or to cover the carnage after!

Looks good, I'm sure you will be happy with the new performance it will put out, Flares will make it look even better, well..I like flares anyway. Good upgrade Robert and keep it coming...it's never totally built or ever complete, I lay in bed at night as most of us do and dream about what is next !!
No need for a Winch...You just have to make it !!

Update for those who missed it...

The 37s looked a lot more proportionate once I opened up the fenderwells a bit.

I did wheel it all weekend at Rush. I didn't beat it as hard as I would have on my old 33" 35s, but that was kind of the plan. And I didn't totally pussifoot it, you can see daylight under the left front on Slickrock/Wally.

But it did survive all weekend without any axle issue...

All told, I do love them.

They climb like MAD, and I don't need the throttle or wheelspeed that I did with my old LTBs. I am 100% certain that the rig is more capable now than it was before, it just takes a little more self-restraint to capitalize on it.

Of course, anyone who's seen me drive knows that self-restraint is not one of my better qualities. So we'll see how long I can keep a lid on it, before I start getting stupid again, and start breaking stuff.

Because I have no doubt that, if abused, they will destroy my axle.

                            I'm not delusional!
