Who rebuilds alternators?

I have a bad alternator on my 84' c30 dump with a 6.2 diesel that needs to be rebuilt or replaced. The problem is it's a 165 amp Leece-Neville heavy duty model that was installed in this trucks previous life as a ambulance and is very pricey.

Thought I might try the rebuilt route before I drop $300 on a new one..:(

Thanks, Jeff

J&N is the only one i know of... for more outlets, call cincy speed, there has to be one that rebuilds them for all the street rods, etc.

Yeah, JN electric will do it, but the quote may be only half of what they will charge you when it is finished.

i imagine there may be a bit of a difference between rebuilding an alternator, and rewiring mad max's jalopy...

It seems like 1/3 of the threads on CORE end up making fun of 94Dodge's ugly ass rig.... see'n how I spent last weekend rebuilding a D70 and grinding undercoating of my K5 chassis and he went ridding I'll keep my mouth shut!

Just like da' wimmins , some times da ugly ones are da most fun! ;)

Doesn't it need to get outside a building to rust? :D

carwash 07-07-2007 12:18 AM

the building it is in is not very air or water tight... it gets quite humid in their, with puddles of standing water, etc...

can't wait to move it to the new shop... ugh.
