Just find a rusted out POS that is cheap and has the same motor as the buggy and is street legal. Then swap the Vin plate over the the buggy dash and go get your plates. They will only want to inspect it if the Title is from another state.

DO NOT DO THIS!

it is illegal and if you are caught (even with it on a trailer) you will recieve HUGE fines and probably prison time. its like forging a legal document. you would have to be a deep woods toothless redneck to even consider this as a possible option. the ramifications for such an action are not worth it.

check madhatters link and read no. 5:
5. Any vehicle or component part bearing a VIN or VIN derivative determined to be stolen/missing or altered will result in the vehicle being impounded and held as evidence and/or seized for forfeiture.

that would just be the beginning of your problems if you were caught.

call a lawyer. if you rnot going to street it or insure it, then call a lawyer and have some sort of offical documentation made up for it with is discription, use and identification, and keep a copy of it in the records dept. if you want to street it, just get over it and make it legal based on the rules. it really isnt that hard.

The reason I put up the penalty is because avoiding the possibility of a year in jail would seem to justify a fair amount of inconvenience.

1st. There is not a chance in hell Adams buggy will EVER pass this little "inspection".

2nd. The "inspection" you are talking about is to make a rig street legal which is something this buggy will never be and there for COULD NEVER pass the inspection.

3rd. I told him 3 months ago he didn't "need" a Title from the state.
All he needs is a notarized bill of sale.

4th. No matter what the state of OHIO is not going to give you a title for a buggy that is not legal to drive on the street.

5th. You CAN mill up your own number on a peace of flat steel and weld it to the chassie and then have that number added to the notarized bill of sale along with the motor casting number and it will hold up in any court and can be used to insure the buggy also.

6th. Bite me.

1-5 are very redundant. as for six... i wouldnt give you the pleasure. haha.;)

if a dune buggy can be street legal surely his buggy can be also. note: my uncle has a buggy registered as a self built vehicle. AND it is titled. basically all VW parts though....
